Registrations 2025
Save the date!
As announced in the spring, the environmental impact analysis carried out by the Aircoop agency in 2023 revealed that 96% of the Mont Blanc Marathon's carbon footprint is linked to the transport of participants and their companions (home->Chamonix).
Every year, 10,000 runners come to Chamonix to take part in the Mont Blanc Marathon. To ensure that we can continue to enjoy this incredible playground for many years to come, we have decided to introduce a different registration system this year.
This will enable us to reduce the environmental impact of the event, thanks to your help! The main objective is to encourage the use of public transport to get to Chamonix, and to encourage those who take the plunge.
This year, runners who come to the Mont-Blanc Marathon by train or bus will be able to register for the Duo étoilé, the 90km, the 42km and the 23km du Mont-Blanc without going through the draw. 40% of race numbers are affected by this new measure.
In addition, carbon offsetting of participants' journeys (home -> Chamonix) will be mandatory.
All the information about registration
Registration for the Mont Blanc Marathon races is online only, with payment by credit card. Registration methods differ depending on the race:
90km, 42km, 23km and Duo Etoilé : Registration opens on Thursday, October 24 at 9:00 am.
There are two options depending on your mode of transport:
I'm coming by train or bus: I register without going through the draw.
40% of race numbers are involved. The number of race numbers is limited: first come, first served. More info
I'm coming by another means of transport: I register for the draw (free of charge).
This applies to 60% of race numbers. Registration for the draw is possible from Thursday, October 24, 2024 at 9:00 am until Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at 12:00 pm.
It is only possible to register for one of the 4 races in the draw.
The results of the draw will then be communicated by email to those who have registered. The selected runners will then have to finalize their registration and the payment of their race number before November 29, 2024 at 12:00 pm. More info

10km, Kilomètre Vertical, Young Race Marathon and Mini-Cross: Registration opens on Wednesday November 20 at 9:00 am.
Registration without draw until all places are filled.
Runners wishing to take part in the 10km du Mont-Blanc, the Kilomètre Vertical, the Young Race Marathon or the Mini-Cross can register without a draw for one or more races, while places last.
As for the races subject to a draw, 40% of the race numbers for the Mont-Blanc 10km and KM Vertical will be reserved for runners who commit to coming by train or bus. Runners must therefore choose the mode of transport they will use to get to Chamonix when they register.
- 10km du Mont-Blanc: 800 numbers reserved for Bus / Train.
- KM Vertical: 280 race numbers reserved for Bus / Train.
Conditions for train and bus race numbers:
More than half of the journey (home-Chamonix) must be made by train or bus.
The train or bus ticket must be for a return journey including the date of the event.
Runners who choose to take part in this scheme will be required to upload their ticket and proof of address to their runner account by May 4, 2025 at the latest.
For residents of the Chamonix Valley, the Viacham card will act as proof of transport (and will therefore replace the train or bus ticket). It must be uploaded to the rider's registration profile with a validity date covering the period of the event.
In the event of non-uploading or proven fraud, registration will be cancelled without refund.
Duo Étoilé, 23 km, 42 km and 90 km du Mont-Blanc: No draw for runners who commit to coming by train or bus

Draw procedures:
- Runners wishing to take part in the draw must choose just one of the four races: 90km, 42km, 23km or Duo étoilé.
- It is forbidden to enter the draw more than once. Any runner attempting to enter the draw more than once will have all his or her entries automatically cancelled, and will therefore not be able to enter the draw.
- Registration for the draw will be possible from October 24, 2024 at 9:00 am to November 12, 2024 at 12:00 pm. If the number of pre-registrations for a race is greater than the maximum number of runners possible, the draw will be organized.
- Results will be announced on November 18 from 9:00 am.
Group registration Group pre-registration is possible for the 90km, 42km or 23km Mont-Blanc. More info
Group pre-registration is possible for the 90km, 42km or 23km Mont-Blanc.
- Group registrations must be for the same race (minimum 2 people and maximum 10 people per group).
- Group registrations are only possible in the case of a random draw.
- If a group consists of more than 10 people, it will not be entered in the draw.
The only advantage of group registration is that all group members have the same draw result, whether positive or negative. The probability of being drawn is the same for all riders, whether pre-registered individually or as a group. Each group member must fill in the "group code" information on the registration form. The code must be created by the 1st member of the group to register and then passed on to the other members of the group. It is then up to the group leader to know who makes up his or her group.
Be very careful when entering the group code, as in the event of a code error, group members will not be grouped together under the same group. We recommend that you do not use spaces or special characters in the group name, only capital letters and numbers. Example of a group code: MBM189 (this is an example, please do not use this code).
Choosing your race
The Mont Blanc Marathon races take place in the mountains, on technical courses that can have a significant vertical drop. To take part in these races, it is recommended that you have good experience of mountain running, are comfortable on all types of terrain and can run independently for several hours.
We also remind you that it is generally considered that 100m of positive ascent corresponds to 1km of additional running. For example: the 42km Mont-Blanc race has a positive altitude difference of 2540m; this corresponds to a distance of 42km + 25km, i.e. 67km. We therefore insist on the importance of taking the altitude difference into account before choosing your race.
