Our ecological commitments

Since the Cross du Mont-Blanc creation in 1979, the Chamonix Sports Club has made every effort to offer quality races while limiting their impact on the environment. Therefore, we assess our environmental impact every year and keep reinforcing our actions.

In 2024, we have eliminated all Coca-Cola bottles from our refreshment stands. Instead, runners will be able to mix Coca-Cola syrup with the sparkling water we already produce. As a result, we no longer distribute plastic bottles during our races.

For the first time, we also put 35 "environmental" bibs on sale, splitted among the Duo Étoilé, 23km, 42km and 90km Mont-Blanc races. The money raised from the sale of these bibs will support local environmental projects.

This year, the trophies awarded to the winners will be produced by a young Chamonix company, Pahapa, founded by two engineering students. Made from biosourced corn, they can be recycled and industrially composted.

Two major measures have already been announced for the 2025 edition: 40% of race bibs will be reserved for runners who choose to come by train, and carbon offsetting will be made compulsory for all runners when they register.
